It Doesn’t Take Much

I’m going to decorate my cubicle I’ve decided…

I’m not sure exactly what will happen, but it will be AMAZING… No one here at the new office really seems to take much stock in personalization of their workspace. Not that my cubicle at HRC was that much better. I recently read a small thing from life hacker. While only one I thought was truly cool, it was an inspiration. I’m now looking into having an aquarium at my desk. There is a sort of bookshelf/cabinet thing that is situated so that only I can really see into it. (Odd… I thought the point of a bookshelf was to show off that you can actually read and appreciate the tried and true ‘printed’ books).

Yes, I deleted the last entry. Mainly because nothing I had written was very accurate. I wrote it while I was depressed one night and decided later that nothing there was actually correct. When I get upset or scared, my inclination is to run back home. I am sure most people can understand that mentality.

I recently realized that I have not been truly happy for a long time now. I really tried to think back, and discovered that pretty much since I Interviewed for the new job I have been unhappy. I think I got caught up and relinquished a lot of control. I am going to correct an earlier statement about the new Job, I do like the new company. I just that compared to how things were with HRC, I am not as crucial here. I like feeling as if I am needed and appreciated. I have not found that place here at Segue yet, but I am working on it.

Check list-o-happiness:

  • Living arrangements – For this I moved out of Springfield, back inside the beltway. I think the new location will be closer to my friends, and to the city. This should cascade down to the other areas I need to address. The new apartment is in Arlington, with my friend Ryan. It’s a nice, modern, clean apartment, and we got a great deal on it as well. (2 months free rent).
  • Intra-personal – I’d like to see my friends more consistently. As it is, I see some once a week, others once a month, some almost never… I need to spend less time at home and enjoy their company.
  • Family – Dog actually, I’d like my dog back. I miss him and I enjoy the responsibility I’m forced to take when he’s with me. (I have to get up at this time, I have to come home at this time, etc.)
  • Worklife – I’d like to get a Masters degree in something work related, As well as to find something at work that needs to be done, and to take the initiative and do it. At HRC I had no problems with this, I rebuilt several sites just to make them a little bit better. I’m trying to locate and equivalent here with Segue.
  • Physical wellbeing – I’d like to adopt a more stable diet, and to begin to work out. Both the new office and apartment feature Gyms, so now I have no reason to avoid them other then my own laziness.

My life was adrift a few years ago, the time between DC and college. I had everything on track for about a year, but then things slipped and I am not exactly sure why and how, but I am very eager to fix the problem and get things rolling once again.
